Dialogue Questions for “White Fragility and the Rules of Engagement”

White Fragility and the Rules of Engagement

  1. When have you focused more on the manner in which you were given feedback (someone’s tone, relationship to you, prior conflicts, etc.) than on the feedback itself?
  2. When have you focused your responses to feedback about racism on your intention rather than your impact? In retrospect, how did this affect your ability to see how your action could have been harmful and to prioritize changing in the future?
  3. When have you processed your discomfort as “danger” during a conversation about race?
  4. How can we prioritize building our “racial stamina” to receive feedback on our own racism?
